Would someone let me know what is going on with AOL? I have been gone for some time, but am now back (computer issues). I just checked my 785, yes 785, emails, and got news that AOL journals is shutting down. How do I save my blog? Where do I go? Where is everyone else going? I am so upset over this. Someone catch me up, please......

O.K... here's the scoop. AOL is kicking us out. October 31st, they will kick us to the curb and discontinue the AOL Journals product. We have been 'sunsetted' if you want to use their jargon. The only good news is that they got together with Blogger (a superior blogging platform to AOL anyway, in my opinion) and set up a pretty painless transfer process. Go to Magic Smoke and there is a link there to get you started. The only problem is that they are also discontinuing the Hometown product which has the FTP space many of us used for some of our graphics. If you are using graphics stored there then even after you transfer your blog they will disappear when AOL gets rid of Hometown. There are options (also found at Magic Smoke) for tansferring your stuff from FTP/Hometown to your computer. I also offer a way to transfer your stuff from FTP to another service on my blog.
Blogger is pretty cool. I actually made a mirror blog over there during the last fiasco AOL had and found I liked their platform better. YOu have a lot more options over there. The only reason I still had an AOL Journal was because some people didn't want to leave the AOL product line and I had friends who fell in that group.
If you have any problems, I am over at http://adventuresofaneclecticmind.blogspot.com
