Sadness

This has no doubt been the worst Holiday season yet, and I hate to say it, but I will be so glad when it is all finally over.  Thank you all for leaving comments.  I have good days (well, okay days) and I have days where I breakdown.  This is affecting me emotionally as well as physically, as I have a bleeding ulcer and am on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds.   I thougth about deleting this journal, but I know one day I will be strong again and be back.  I miss everyone and hope eveyone is well- I have almost 200 alerts to catch up on.  Love you all!

Hard Times

Apparently about to go through a divorce - at some point I will be back - maybe - maybe not.  My life has spiraled completely out of control.  Trying to work through sadness, anger, devastation in general - It's going to be a long road back...................

Stolen From Lelly.......

Got this from Lelly, and thought it too good not to pass along....

"Never regret what you have done, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted"

Ugh

For the past twenty four hours I have been in my bed, on the couch, or on my knees in the bathroom.  TMI, I know.  If I don't die from dehydration, I will be back.  Brent just came in with the mail and tossed an envelope to me.  Why is he giving me bills when I am sick?  Oh, it wasn't a bill.  It was a birthday card from Lisa Jo that really just made my day!!

LJ, you are the best - even with everything going on in your life, you still take the time to be kind and thoughtful. Thank you so much!!!  You rock!!!!! ;)

Another Rant

My husband is a SLOB.  I thought he was one before I left, but he has given WHOLE NEW MEANING to the word, having had free reign of the house for six weeks.  I honestly DO NOT think he notices the things I do, I really think he is completely oblivious to living in a pig sty.  But holy s^%t, I'm NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No More Ambien for Ash

It is two o clock in the morning.  What am I doing up and online, you ask?  I took an Ambien about, oh, four hours ago and I am WIDE awake.   Not only did it not make me sleepy, I CAN'T sleep.  This is a girl who can take 1 tylenol p.m. and be knocked out.  Ever heard of anyone taking an Ambien and it having the opposite effect?  Nope, me neither.  So after two hours of listening to my husband snore, I ventured downstairs to leave this entry.  {{SIGH}}

Apparently, offense taken

Judging by a couple of emails I recieved (people reading my journal that I have never even heard of), my rant on the whole welfare situation "offended" a few.  This is AOL journals I am writing in ,people, not the New York Times.  Furthermore, I have a right to my opinion and I have a right to express that opinion in my blog.  See the X in the top right corner of the screen?  ;)

My Boring Life....Just How I Like It

Brent cooked dinner tonight.  And although I usually somewhat enjoy standing by and saying "you are putting too much of this, or you need to turn that down," tonight I went upstairs and took a long, hot shower.  Nice.  Came down to spaghetti.  I  cook EVERYTHING southern style, even spaghetti.  Brent cooks it somewhat more authentic, with ground beef, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. Mary would NOT appreciate our version of garlic bread - Colonial, thin sliced, plain old enriched white bread with spray butter and garlic salt (hey, I haven't REALLY bought groceries since I have been home).

Now I am full, wearing my favorite jammies, and content.......my favorite way to go to bed ;)

Rant Continued (Warning-Not Politically Correct)

Continuing on with my disdain for politics (started by Roseanne).........

I hate to be so jaded, and I AM thankful that we DO have the freedoms we have in this country and the right to vote, but the bottom line is, whoever wins never seems to change the status of MY pocketbook....

Brent and I are both college educated, both get up and go to work every day, live a relatively modest lifestyle, and STILL have to write a check to Uncle Sam for a ridiculous amount of money (this year causing me to have to resist my urge to even WALK through the Coach purse section at Macy's).  My point?

I stopped in Kroger yesterday afternoon to pick up a couple of items.  I became aware that the woman in front of me was taking an unusually long time to check out.  She was relatively young, seemingly able-bodied, and had a small child in the cart.  The reason it was taking so long, is because she was paying with food stamps (vouchers, whatever they call them now).  Now before anyone gets offended, let me explain.  I have no problem with people getting government assistance when THEY NEED IT.  I am fully aware that there are many people in positions where they truly need assistance - disabled, injured, sick, elderly, etc. My point?

I got out to the parking lot about the same time this girl did.  She got into an SUV newer and nicer than what I drive, and off she went with her groceries, paid for by our tax dollars.

The way I see politics is, whether it is a Democrat or a Republican in office, I will continue to work, write my hefty check payable to the Internal Revenue Service, and carry last years Coach purse, while some lazy, able-bodied person collects money from the government and drives a new Yukon.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Rant soon to come

Well, irritated isn't a choice of a "mood" with AOL, so I am making my own mood.  IRRITATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Trying to relax and hearing ROSEANNE BARR ARNOLD or  whatever the he$$ her name is screaming "I hate the President" just isn't working for me.  She nauseates me, to be quite honest.  But I will continue this rant in the morning.....................(Oh, and Roseannewhateveryourlastname is).........there is something to be said for doing things with a little CLASS.........(if you might know what that would be;)  But I seriously doubt that you do.

Quick Update

Thank everyone, again, so much, for all of your support.  It has really been a rough couple of months for me, and coming here and reading all  of your comments, emails, and journal entries always brightens my day a bit.

I am back at home with Brent, and together we are trying to save our marriage.  We have had a REALLY rough time, but like I said in a past entry, love doesn't just go away, and it hasn't, for either one of us.

It is 53 degrees and raining here and pretty much just downright depressing outside.  That is about it for my sorry excuse of an entry ;)

For Anyone Who's Interested.........

This was on my mom's refrigerator, and I thought someone may need or appreciate this..... I know I did.........

MORNING PRAYER

O God, this day free me from fear of the future, from anxiety for tomorrow, from bitterness toward anyone, from failure before opportunity, and from weakness when Your power is at hand.

But, fill me, I implore you, with love that knows no barriers, courage that cannot be shaken, faith strong enough for the darkness, wisdom to meet life's complexities, grace to meet life's perplexities, and the power to lift others unto You.

Realizations

There's something about Mary.  No, there really is.  Just Mary

I love her writing style and she is such a wise soul.  She left an entry last night that really just left me contemplating.  She said "What I know now, I can fit on a 3x5 card."  In my twenties, I thought I knew it all. The older I get, I realize the less I REALLY DO know.  But, as Mary said, what I do know, I hold close to my heart.

Some things I know today............

For the first time in my 32 years of life, I have noticed the beautiful colors of  fall.  The burnt orange, auburn, and gold treetops have taken my breath away, after going unnoticed for 32 years. The other day as I was driving down the road, crying my eyes out, I even stopped to snap a picture (albeit with my crappy camera phone) of one particularly beautiful tree.

My family and those who have always been loyal to me, I will always keep close to my heart and close by my side.

You can't know true joy unless you know true sadness.

Strength comes quietly from unknown places.

My father will always be my biggest supporter and caretaker, and the thought of not having him in my life is unfathomable.

This is the first time in four years that Brent has not bought me the biggest pumpkin he could find, carved it, put a candle in it, and watched me smile as he roasted the pumpkin seeds.

Maybe next year I will be able to appreciate that pumpkin more than ever.

Marriage

Is it extremely odd to have a "date" with your husband? After being seperated for several weeks, that is what I had last night.  The smell of his neck, the feel of his cheek pressed up against mine, rubbing the small of his back - things that used to be so comfortable and  familiar to me- now seemed new, as if I were with this man for the first time.  Funny how a short amount of time can take those things from your memory, and yet, in an instant, they all come back.  All it did was - give me the reassurance ......................that love doesn't just go away.......

Another Day

I am still hanging in there - thank you all so much for the uplifting comments and words of encouragement.  And thank you, TerryAnn, for sending people my way.  Life is still very rough right now, but I just keep putting one foot in front of the other and trying to keep my faith strong.  Some days it is easier than others - today is not so good, maybe tomorrow will be better.  Still trying to catch up on everyone.  I just snagged this from Lisa Jo, and it brightened my day for a split second.....

WOWSA!  Is he HOT or what??????

A Big Whine

Just wanted to stop in and let everyone know I am still around.  Although I am not posting or commenting, please know that I am still reading.  I am over 100 alerts behind, but I am trying to keep up with everyone (Nelishia, Jackie, Kimberleigh, Robin, Lisa Jo, Carlene, Hadon, Jill, Ang, Lelly Myra, Gillie, and others that I cannot think of off the top of my head right now).

To say the least, my life is in utter chaos right now.  Brent and I are (hopefully temporarily) separated right now.  He is living in our home (as his office is there), and I am staying with my mom.  My sister is about to enter a year-long drug rehabilitation center.  My family is caring for her five year old daughter.  My mother is about to get re-married.  Our family business (which I work for) is not doing well.  The holidays, which are normally my favorite time of year, are coming, and I am dreading them.  Hmmmmm, what else?  Oh, and I have lost fifteen pounds which I did not need to lose (going through a crisis will do that to ya).

I have never thought of myself as the strongest person, so I am trying hard to believe God brought all of this to me to strengthen ME as well as my faith in HIM.  Each day, I remind myself to "let go and let God" and say the serenity prayer.

Hopefully, I will be back soon with some more positive news.  Love you all!!!!

Update

Just wanted to let everyone know that, although I am not posting, I am trying to keep up on my reading.  I have over 100 alerts that I haven't read, but I am slowly catching up, although not commenting much - please forgive me for that.  I am going through major chaos right now, and I hardly have the time and energy to do the things I HAVE to do, much less the things I enjoy (reading, posting, and commenting).  Love you guys and hope to be back soon.  Miss everyone!

Takes Me Back.....

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But Iknow Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

The greatest is love
The greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day

In Memory of Rachel Tamares

header.jpg

May we never forget that tragic day five years ago.  May we never forget all of the innocent lives so tragically and unneccesarily cut short.  May we never forget that each and every one of these victims were someone's mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin, or friend.  May we never forget all of the heroes- firefighters, policemen, EMTs, and citizens that saved lives that day.  May we never forget the terrorists that were and STILL ARE trying to murder our people and destroy our great nation.

May we never forget Rachel Tamares.........

Rachel Tamares

I searched and searched and was not able to find very much personal information on Rachel Tamares.  That does not mean her life was any less valuable or important to those who knew and loved her.

Rachel Tamares, 30, married John Bruno when she was 16 years old.  She was a traditional and devoted mother to their two sons, Jason, 11, and Robert, 6.  She was so committed to her family that she took her mother and younger sister in to her already crowded two bedroom Bronx apartment until they could find another place.

Rachel began working for the Aon Corporation, located in the World Trade Center, when she was 18 years old.  She was known as a responsible and "fastidious" worker.  Friends and co-workers described her as having a positive outlook towards work, friends, and all aspects of her life.

Rachel Tamares did not have to die.  Her husband did not have to lose his wife.  Her boys did not have to be left motherless.  Our country did not have to endure the pain and suffering inflicted upon each and every one of us.  But we did.......

MAY WE NEVER FORGET

Here is a link to a Guest Book for Rachel Tamares for anyone who would like to visit or leave a comment:

God bless the family and friends of Rachel Tamares and all of those who lost loved ones.

Food, food, and more food......

If I don't eat again for a week, it will be too soon.  Here is a quick rundown of how we eat here in the South LOL  It started yesterday morning with Brent going to Waffle House and bringing me back a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and a double order of hash browns with onions and cheese.  We got to his Aunt and Uncle's house a few hours later, and they had a SPREAD from a local barbecue restaurant - pork, Brunswick stew, coleslaw, baked beans, not to MENTION all of the homemade appetizers everyone had brought - homemade salsa, stuffed jalapenos, spinach dip, dill dip, and his grandmother's homemade fried apple pies.  You would think that would have been enough to hold us over for, ummmm, at least a couple of days, but, noooo. Last night, Brent decided to put bratwurst on the charcoal grill, and how could I turn THAT down?? UGGGGGGGHHHHH  We woke up this morning to a home-cooked breakfast of grits, scrambled eggs, hashbrown casserole, bacon, biscuits and gravy.  All washed down with sweet iced tea ;)  On the way home, we stopped in Publix to grab some stuff for, yeah, you guessed it, DINNER, and they were grilling hamburgers.  Surprise, surprise.  We decided to try one.  Hey, it was a grilled hamburger, bag of chips, and a can of Coke for 3 bucks - how could we turn that down????  Now comes the good part.........

We just finished dinner, cooked by MY most favorite cook of all (ME;) of pot roast complete with carrots, potatoes, and onions, garden fresh green beans topped with my mom's relish, rolls, gravy, and marinated cucumber and vidalia onion salad.  Is anyone sick yet?!?!?!?!?

Nothing Much.....

Go Dawgs!  College football season has started again...............

We just returned from South Georgia, where Brent's aunt and uncle have a farm.  It is near Warm Springs, if anyone has ever heard of that town (where President Roosevelt had "The Little White House".)  It really is like stepping back in time - sort of a Mayberry type of place.  They just built a new house, way back off the road, and have several hundred acres of land there.  There is a small lake with a paddle boat, a swimming pool, and a screened in porch with a TV overlooking them both.  They have a separate garage with an apartment above it, and that is where Brent and I stayed.  It was quite peaceful and relaxing.  Brent and his uncles and grandfather went on a dove shoot yesterday (opening of dove season - I ONLY know this because I am married to an outdoorsman lol.)  We are now back at home, I have a pot roast in the oven, and my "outdoorsman" is on the back porch frying doves (I do not eat them and HATE the smell of them frying in the house.)  All in all, a relaxing time and EXACTLY what I needed to help calm my nerves from all of the stress and turmoil that has been suffocating me lately.  Hmmmm,  a glass of red wine seems to be calling me now........ ;)

It's The Little Things That Make Me Smile

Brent does not always come across as the most understanding man about things.  When I am upset, he gets frustrated.  I have told him over and over "It is NOT your fault, I DON'T want you to fix it, I JUST want you to listen."  I think it is finally somewhat starting to sink in with him that he does not need to fix my world,  but just be my "safe place" sometimes.

He sent me a very sweet text message when I got to work this morning and I came home to a big bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table.  He has always been quite romantic in alot of ways, and I am glad marriage hasn't taken that away.   Little things like that really can go a long way sometimes.......

P.S.  But don't think that he can't still be a #$&%* sometimes  LOL ;)

Just An Explanation....

I know some of you have been wondering what is going on with me, and you don't know how much your comments and emails have meant to me.  My family is going through a pretty serious crisis right now, and that is all I really feel comfortable saying.  Because my journal is public, I have no idea who may come across it and read it, and possibly even use the information in a harmful way.  I am very protective of my family, and do not feel comfortable doing ANYTHING to put them out there to be hurt.  I know people here in j-land who have had firsthand experience with that.  I love having a public journal and having random people stop by and comment. Unfortunately, the thing I love the most about having a public journal is the same reason I feel I have to somewhat censor what I say.  I would love this journal to be more of an "open book," but protecting myself and my loved ones comes first.  I know you can all understand this........

Yadda Yadda....

Maybe this is just in my head to distract me from all of the drama going on in my life right now, but I have a question.  How do people come up with their AOL screen names?  I mean, mine is pretty self-explanatory, but everytime I read comments in journals, I spend alot of time trying to figure out what the little screen names mean.  Do people not want to use their name/initials/something to do with their name, for a reason? Maybe some people journal under "different" screen names?  Just curious...

How I feel right now........

Trying to be optimistic.......

Well, not much has changed with my situation of negativity.  I will write about it when I am able to get a grasp on everything that is going on; But for now, words left unspoken seem to be the right thing.  I WILL say it involves my family; Part of the reason  I am a little reluctant to post about it, is because I am not sure of the details and the outcome.

Now, that being said, HAPPY BIRTHDAY J-LAND.  This community means so much to me.  I know I haven't been posting or commenting as much as normal, but everyone is in my thoughts and prayers.........

Long Time, No Entry

I just realized it has been a WHILE since I posted.  I have ALOT going on, most of which is pretty negative right now.  I will post more on this later.  For today, I am getting some work done this morning, trying to get out of here by lunchtime, and heading to the lake for the weekend.  Brent and I and some friends will be there until Sunday night/maybe Monday morning.  Hope everyone has a good weekend, and hopefully I will feel more like writing when I get back...........

Confused- But Not Really

I just got really annoyed watching the Nelly Furtado video.  A few years ago, didn't she try to market herself as a "hippie" type, kind of like a Jewel wannabe (which she had nowhere near Jewel's talent)?  And now she is hiphop?  Who buys that?

9/11

Jackie has left an entry that I felt should be passed on and shared with everyone.  This is something that will touch every American, male and female, from North, South, East, and West, because it is a tragedy we ALL endured.   So, thank you, Jackie, and I will cut and paste this information.

September 11.......

This September 11th marks the 5th anniversary of that horrible day in which 2,996 people were killed during the terrorist attacks.

I will be participating along with other bloggers all over the internet in what is called the 2,996 project.  Bloggers are being asked to sign up, where they will be given the name of one of the victims, and they are to write an entry/post about that person on September 11th.  The idea is to have a tribute done on each and every victim in recognition of that horrible day 5 years ago.

Please, go to the above website, sign up, and let them assign one of these many heros to you.  There are plenty left.

Not Sure If This Will Work.....

Try clicking on this link and see if you can see the pics.....It will not work on my computer from work, but will from home.... They were out in the ocean fishing, and a bunch of dolphin started swimming up around the boat... pretty cool pics.  Look how pretty the water is!!

Questions, Answered

Ok, Ok, so it took me a while to get these answered.  I am still catching up on alerts from being gone for six days!  I have yet to post the dolphin pics from the trip, but I will as soon as I get around to sitting down with Brent and getting him to help me do it......So, in the meantime, I will entertain you with the answers to these questions ;)

Jackie asked, "Have you ever met anyone from J-land?"

No, I haven't, but I agree with Hadon, there should be some sort of J-land convention so that we could all finally get together and meet face to face.  I think that would be so awesome!!!

Marla asked, "Are you still friends with your best friend from High School?"

Actually, I had two "best" friends in High School.  One, I still stay in touch with and see about once a month. The other, I actually lived with for a while just out of college.  Since then, for whatever reason, we lost touch.  About three months ago, we got back in touch via email, and have been planning to get together sometime.

Lelly asked, "What is your favorite place to be?"

Lelly, I think you already know the answer to this one - the lakehouse (that is, until we come to YOUR lakehouse and then that may become my NEW favorite place to be ;)

Robin asked, "What is your biggest regret?"

In all honesty, I have many regrets looking back in life.  I choose to look at them as "what got me where I am today" rather than as regrets.  At times, we make choices for whatever reason seem right at the time.  Life is too short to look back and worry about what you "coulda shoulda woulda" done differently.  I try to look forward and make the best choices I can each day.

Hadon asked, "Where did you get that wonderful beautiful smile?"

Awwww, Hadon, always the sweetheart.....  Hmmmm, let's see.  Part God, part mom, part dad, and part three years of having hideous braces on my teeth ;)

Nelishisa asked "Why didn't Noah swat those mosquitos on the Ark?"

Not sure, other than maybe he had his hands a little too full making sure there were two of everything else getting on board?????

And finally, Barbara asked, "Why did God make mosquitos?"

To bite sweet things like you and me???? ;)

Thanks for the questions everyone, that was fun!!

My Friend

Someone who has been very, very good to me and that I admire TREMENDOUSLY is going through a very hard time.  She has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is a survivor, and I think her reason for being put through this is to help others.  So if all I can do for her is to help her help others, that is what I will do................

!st week of August in rewind.........Oye Vey! LOL

Please stop by and wish her well........

Overwhelmed

I had so many alerts on journals after being gone for a week that I am absolutely overwhelmed - I am talking over a hundred alerts - almost 400 emails total.  So rather than posting a new entry about my vacation now, I would like to try and catch up on some of the entries I missed reading over the past week (not to mention all of the catching up I have to do at work).

Long story short (until I post more), we went to Destin Thursday night, with plans of coming home Monday morning.  We took the boat with us for the first time, and enjoyed it so much we ending up staying until Wednesday afternoon.  Great weather, great food, and great alone time with my hubby.  I have pictures of Brent feeding dolphins (out in the middle of the ocean right off of our boat) that I will post later ;)

Friday Five

The 5'er!!!!!

From Robin:

      Hi guys!!!

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. (there is no deadline as to when you can do "The 5'er) When you have answered them come back and leave a link in my comment section.  On the following Friday I will have a new set of questions! Have fun!

1.  Does anyone really care if Oprah is gay or not???

Ummmmm, nope.  Not even a little bit...

2.  What is your favorite old time game show on tv?

I agree with Robin, the OLD Newlywed game from the 70s - their clothes and hair are entertainment enough.

3.  I had waffles for breakfast and I was wondering what do other people put on their waffle?

Peanut butter and syrup - actually, I like that on pancakes, too.

4.  Who do you think would make a good President of the United States?

Again, I agree with Robin.  I would love to live to see a female in the White House, but I like our current President just fine.

5.  If you could do anything this weekend what would it be?

Hop on a plane (first class, of course) and be jetted off to Fiji with my husband, to lie on the beach all weekend with my own personal chef/masseuse/cabana boy.

Have a good weekend!!!!!

Just wondering.....

This is a cell phone that sells for 1.3 million dollars.  Would someone please tell me WHO would pay 1.3 million dollars for a PHONE???  Even if they had the money, WHO would spend it on a cell phone??  Other than, say, perhaps some mindless bubblehead like, oh Paris Hilton??

If You Pray........

Please keep Lelly, my SIL, and my mom in your prayers...........  All I need to say for tonight......

Rainbows for Miss Negative

Not everyone leaves comments in my actual journal, some people e-mail them to me.  I got this from Barbara, who took the time to actually respond to my last entry.  This really made me smile :)  Thanks, Barbara!

Things that annoy me........Let me show you the rainbows

People in line at the gas station buying lottery tickets when I am trying to just get my gas/ Dr. Pepper/ Starbucks and get to work...This annoys me too but I try to remember that to some people this is their life and they have to wait on my to buy my sodas and stuff on the days that they are ahead of me

Sitting in traffic AT least you have a car that works and gets you where you need to go!

Hot, humid, smothering Georgia weather  It is over 100 everyday here in Texas!!!

People that walk up to talk to you, while talking away on a cell phone I run into this on a daily basis as a cashier...I just wait to start checking their groceries until they talk to me and then I ask useless questions just to make them stop their conversation and soon they are telling the person on the phone that they will have to call them back LOL

Kids misbehaving in public while their parents standby and do nothing Makes you feel sorry for the kids who are being ignored don't it

Waking up an hour before my alarm clock is supposed to go off

That just gives you one more hour to enjoy your day!!!

Waitresses that don't write down your order, then bring your food out incorrectly  I make them repeat the order back to me and bring in my own paper and pen for them to write it down if they get it wrong LOL

Telemarketing calls  no rainbow here...I hate them too...but you can have some fun playing with their minds like I do.  I ask many questions making them repeat their little speeches, ask them if they would like to watch a movie with me and turn up the sound and if I am really annoyed I will sing a song for them off key.

Finding a pack of chewing gum in my purse, then realizing it is empty  at least it isn't a piece of already been chewed gum!

Dirty dishes in the sink  PAPER PLATES

People with no regard to time (lateness) start without them  make them think they really missed something fun and I guarantee next time they will be on time or closer to it

The fact that I smoke cigarettes  I do too and what's a girl to do?

Yes, I am feeling a bit annoyed today.  I don't know if it is the heat, the time of the month, or just that side of my personality coming out, but I hope it will pass soon.  Maybe tomorrow I will be seeing the "glass half full" and can write about things I am thankful for........I am thankful for you and I hope your day gets better!!!!!

HUGS Barbara

If I Wanted to Move to China I Would Learn to Speak Chinese..........

Why is it EVERY SINGLE time we order Chinese food for lunch at work, ONE or ALL of the orders is screwed up?  What is so hard to understand about NO BELL PEPPERS?  Geez Louise - why do you think it is okay to open a restaurant in America when NOT ONE PERSON WORKING there understands English?  What ,am I supposed to order in Chinese??  It is REALLY starting to get on my nerves, people.  If you come to America and want to serve Americans and take our hard-earned money, why can't you AT LEAST learn our language?  Is that too much to ask?

Well, at least tonight, I will order what I want and get it exactly how I order it.  Yummy fried lobster tail, cooked by Chef Henry, who speaks with a nice and clear Louisiana accent!!!!!

    Looooong Weekend

Only a couple of more hours, and I have four long days off!  YAY!!!  I must say I am a little bit disappointed that I am not spending the 4th at the beach or the lakehouse, but I am sure we will stay busy nonetheless.  Brent is fishing this afternoon, and I plan on going home, pouring a glass of wine, and taking my time cooking us a late dinner.  Tomorrow I have errands to run all day, and we have a 4th of July party to go to at some friends' house.  Sunday, my MIL is moving and we have committed to helping her for the day (fun fun).  We really have no set plans for Monday and Tuesday, which is fine with me.  I think we may just take the boat out Tuesday night and have a dinner picnic watching the fireworks.  Brent has found a house on the lake for sale that he keeps wanting me to see, but he can't figure out how to get to it by land - only by water.  So if the traffic isn't too terribly bad on the lake, we may go check that out.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th!!!!!!

    The 4th of July

    Here is Robin's Five.........

If you want to play all you do is cut and paste these questions into your journal. (there is no deadline as to when you can do "The 5'er) When you have answered them come back and leave a link in ROBIN'S comment section.

    LET'S PLAY!!!

    1. Where do you plan on spending the fourth of July?

Hmmm - don't really have plans actually on the 4th.  We are going to a friend's house to a cookout/party on Saturday the 1st.  We will probably just shoot fireworks with the neighbors and stay close to home on the 4th.

    2. Tell us about a memorable 4th for you.

The lake, fireworks, alcohol, a bonfire, a grill, and steaks......Need I say more?

    3.  What screams independence day to you?

The flag, Lee Greenwood singing "Proud to be an American, military uniforms, cookouts, hot dogs, corn on the cobb, hot weather, fireworks, family, friends, the Pledge of Allegiance, and FREEDOM!!!

    4. If you could tell a military person anything what would you say?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart....Too often we take for granted what we have.  More often, we need to stop and remember that it is all of the military men and women, past and present, who have fought to give us as American's the rights and freedoms that we have. God bless you all.

    5. Have you put out anything red, white and blue or do you plan too?

The flag, my Old Navy tank top with the flag on it, and of course, like Hadon, my flag undies ;)

Thanks for playing and God Bless America!

    Recipe

I just found this recipe online - sounds like a really yummy summer salad....

    Chicken:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved
    Jamaican Jerk seasoning
    Brown sugar
    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1. Heat oil in skillet over medium high heat. Season chicken breasts with jerk seasoning, on both sides. Transfer to hot skillet. Sear both sides of chicken. Add 1 tablespoon brown sugar to top of each breast half. Cook breasts, turning once or twice, until no pink remains and juices run clear. In the lasts few minutes of cooking, sprinkle a bit of brown sugar into the skillet. Remove chicken from skillet to a cutting board and cut crosswise into 1/2 to 3/4-inch slices.

    Salad:
1 to 1 1/2 packages Just Lettuce salad mix
1/2 to 1 cup diced red onion
1/2 to 1 cup thinly sliced celery
1/2 to 1 cup shredded carrots
    1 cup diced fresh pineapple
    1 peeled and diced mango

2.In a large shallow salad bowl, combine and toss lettuce. On top of lettuce, evenly layer onions, celery, carrots, pineapple and mango. Sprinkle to taste with ground pepper blend.

    3. Arrange chicken slices around the salad inside the bowl’s rim (to avoid covering up our colorful salad).

    Dressing:
    1 (8-ounce) bottle fat-free creamy poppyseed dressing
1/4 to 1/3 cup canned or bottled lemonade

    4. Combine dressing and lemonade in a small bowl and whisk until thoroughly blended. To serve, pour dressing into a small pitcher or glass and serve on the side, allowing diners to add the desired amount of dressing.

    Another One of These

    Thanks, Robin ;)

1-What do you want people to say about you when you die?  "Boy, she was good in bed!"   LOL  Actually, that is what ROBIN wants people to say ;)

2-How long does it take you to get ready to go out?  Depends on where I am going and what I am doing - anywhere from 5 minutes to over an hour.

3-If you were an animal what would you be?  A fish so I could be in the water all day long.

4-What's your biggest fear?  I have a few...

5-What’s your most prized possesion?  My family, my friends, my husband, my life.

6-What’s the funniest word you can think of?  I am not in a creative mood right now.

7-Do you get along with your parents? Yes

8-What do you look for in the opposite sex?  Nice eyes, nice smile, nice body.  I think my husband has all three ;)

9-What was the most difficult thing you had to do?  It involved telling my parents something....

10-If you were given one day to live what would you do?  Make sure everyone knew how much I loved them.

11-If you could relive any day of your life either for good or to change it what would it be?  The day I married Brent and the birth of my niece

12-What's the worst feeling in the world? Anxiety

    The best? To be loved.

13-If you could meet anyone who ever existed who would it be? why? My dad's father, who died a few weeks before I was born.  I think it would reveal alot about my personality to me.

14-What was the meanest thing you ever did as a little kid?  Too many things to mention to my little sister.

15-What have you learned about love?  It's not always easy but it can also conquer a whole hell of alot

16-How have you changed in the past year? I have learned to be more patient, more tolerant, and know when to keep my mouth shut - marriage will do that to ya ;)

    Thursday Ramblings

I feel so very chipper this morning, and I really don't know why.  Brent has started getting up between 4:30 and 5a.m. three days a week to go to the gym, and I have actually started waking up myself that time.  Am I at the gym with him?  Uh, NO.  But I do find that I get alot of little things done early in the morning that I would otherwise have to worry about when I get home from work in the evening.  So that is a good thing (the other good thing is that my hubby is REALLY starting to show the signs of working out and looking great  ;)

I did not go to the grocery store this past weekend, because we spent it at the lake.  We actually came straight home from the lake (about an hour and a half drive), put the boat away, showered, drove to Brent's Aunt's house (about an hour) for a Father's Day dinner, and back home.  Needless to say, after all that driving, I was in no mood to go grocery shopping.  Brent grilled some chicken Tuesday night, Longhorn Steakhouse takeout last night, and I think tonight we are going to Henry's, my FAVORITE Cajun seafood restaurant.  I think I am liking this not going to the grocery store thing - I seem to be getting "treated"  ;)

Enough rambling for now - have a good day, all!!!

    Wednesday, June 21, 2006

I just spoke with Lisa, she sounds soooo sick.  They have her on pain meds, antibiotics, and IV.  She said the diet pills did not cause it, but probably made it worse.  I told her everyone was worried about her!!!!!  She will be in the hospital at least a few more days.

Jackie always has the cutest tags that I am always stealing from her LOL (thanks Jackie ;)

For anyone who doesn't already know, Lisa Jo is in Mercy Hospital, Room 3119.  Keep her in your prayers - she apparently is being treated for diverticulitis (sp?)

Has anyone heard from Lisa Jo (Damaged Goods)?  She hasn't been online since she was going to the ER about her stomach, and I tried to email her, and her mailbox is full.  I am worried about her :(
